Anne with an E

anne

Anne: I’ve always imagined that my name was Cordelia – at least, I always have of late years. When I was young I used to imagine it was Geraldine, but I like Cordelia better now. But if you call me Anne, please call me Anne spelled with an e.
Marilla: What difference does it make how it’s spelled?
Anne: Oh, it makes such a difference. It looks so much nicer. When you hear a name pronounced can’t you always see it in your mind, just as if it was printed out? I can; and A-N-N looks dreadful, but A-N-N-E looks so much more distinguished. If you’ll only call me Anne spelled with an e I shall try to reconcile myself to not being called Cordelia.

One of my favorite movies of all time! Another scene I really like is “the avenue” as she rides on the wagon to Green Gable with Matthew for the first time. This is a movie you want to go on and on.
Happy Birthday to you Bonnie!!! It is a big one..30. I hope you have a day filled with 30×100 blessings. You deserve it!

  • Haha – I saw this title in feedly and thought it maybe meant I was the winner of your giveaway :) What a great idea for Faith – she looks like a perfect little Anne Shirley. I loved these books so incredibly much growing up – read each one multiple times (I refused to watch the movies!). I hope my girls will read them too!! I am a little doubtful, Vera has always been more into * glam * :/

haha. I haven’t announced a winner ;) Sorry for the tease! Yes, I loved the books too. I’m holding off letting her read them because I want her to be just the right age. She’s not super happy about that but she’s reading all of the “Tales of Avonlea” to start ;) Maybe Vera will change her ways when she starts reading books on that level!

  • Good idea – maybe not letting Faith read them will whet her appetite even more : ) I hadn’t heard of Tales of Avonlea, I’ll have to look into them..

  • I love Anne. Did you ever see the show Road to Avonlea? My favourite when I was little. xx
